Lighthouse Purpose $10000 Freshman Medical Student Scholarship

Lighthouse Purpose Scholarship was created to support disadvantaged medical students in their medical aspirations. This scholarship is awarded to a new freshman medical student beginning medical school in the following academic year.

The scholarship is awarded to a student who has demonstrated financial need, exemplifies commitment to a dream despite unfavorable odds and has maintained an outstanding GPA. All students are welcome to apply.

To be eligible for a Lighthouse Purpose Medical Student Scholarship, candidates must:

All visa and citizenship categories are eligible to apply.
Provide proof of enrollment as a freshman medical student to an LCME accredited allopathic school, COCA accredited osteopathic school or US accredited Caribbean medical school by scholarship deadline.
Obtained a GPA (grade point average) of 3.7 or above on their undergraduate degree at time of application and 3.5 or above for graduate degree at time of application.
Demonstrated financial need and exemplifies commitment to the dream of pursuing medicine despite unfavorable circumstances.

Scholarship Application Requirements

Complete a Lighthouse Purpose scholarship application form and return by deadline.
Provide proof of enrollment into eligible medical school by scholarship deadline
A 500- 1000-word essay that describes your commitment to pursuing a career in medicine despite unfavorable circumstances.
An official transcript from an accredited undergraduate college or graduate college demonstrating required GPA
1 letter of recommendation from undergraduate or graduate college professors with knowledge of the student’s character
Email all required documents in one email with attachments to lighthousescholars@gmail.com with heading “Lighthouse Freshman Medical Student Scholarship.”
